The Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan has made his stand known on the Protest slated for August 1st, 2024. He made this known yesterday 29th July, 2024 while addressing the general public on the stand of Islam on the proposed protest.
In his address, Sheikh made it known that although the organizers of the protest are faceless, but there is nothing wrong with the protest if it goes peacefully. According to him, “If we are to judge about the protest going on across Africa, I would say such a protest must not happen in Nigeria.
Any protest that comes with violence, destruction, or burning of government property, I have never seen any sensible government which will allow such. it is our right to protest but we can’t make it an avenue to steal and destroy people’s property.”

While reacting to the comments made online by some Muslims, Sheikh made it clear that nobody has any right to call the protest haram or forbidden in Islam. “This is not Islamic government, and the leaders in Nigeria are not Islamic leaders the Prophet asked us to obey. So we can’t be speaking to defend them. We just need to be balanced, and upright among the protesters, the government, and the people. That is the stand we must take as Muslims, not siding with the government or the protesters” Sheikh declared
