Over seventy persons have been killed in separate attacks in about five villages in Ruku, Hurum, Darwat, Mai Yanga Sabo and NTV villages in Gashish and Ropp Districts of Barkin Ladi Local Government in Plateau State. Also properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Confirming the incident, publicity Secretary Berom moulders association, Rwang Tengwong, in a press statement said 9 persons were killed at NTV, over 40 at Mai Yanga Sabo, 3 persons at Darwat and 1 person at Hurun. Many were injured while a search is still ongoing for persons that are missing.
Food items were looted, houses and worship centres burnt down and properties destroyed.
He said aside casualties from surrounding communities in Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas this heinous act of violence which also led to the complete displacement for thousands of persons in Hurun, Darwat Mai Yanga Sabo and part of NTV does not only demonstrate a blatant disregard for human life but also seeks to undermine the peace and unity that are at the core of our nation’s values.

“The BYM extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this senseless act of violence,” he said.
“The BYM also urge the government to take immediate and decisive action to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety and security of all citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious background.”
