One of the kidnapped victim of Bethel Baptist High School in Kaduna has regained his freedom after being held captive for over two years.
The chairman of the Kaduna chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Joseph Hayab, said he expressed joy and emphasised that earlier reports suggesting the victim’s reluctance to return home were false.
He said: “The grandmother told me that she was sitted in her room and there was knock at the door and she opened, and lo and behold our great son cameback how, and the story is that he also came out by the road side and hear vehicle saying Kaduna, he does not known where exactly is the place he entered and keep sitting untill he arrives Kaduna and because he is not a small boy he knows Kaduna, he find himself in Sabo and know the road to where is grandmother house is and that is all.
“Nobody fought to bring him, nobody went out, and well for what he is saying even the key person that was keeping him is no more, but I think the other gang people kept him longer, probably using them as a shield.
“First, after embracing him and celebrating I ask why did’nt you stay, he say how could he say he does not want to come back, in fact they have already threathen him and put fear in his mind that if he dear move, it is not going to be well with him, so he just want to obey and keep sitting.
“I saw him with two phones and I collected them and I checked na d I say but you have this phone why are you not talking to your mother, he said look I have even lost all there number I don’t even know who to call, but those in the camp talk to me so I can access them so I don’t even know who to call, as I said earlier he does not even know where extactly is the camp, he can’t tell you wether beacause as a small boy, and at the time they picked them, now he does not know wether the camp is in another State, he only knew that he had a vehicle coming to Kaduna and he is in Kaduna .”
