A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Afijio Local Government, Oyo State, Hon. Olaleye Olusegun Thomas, has applauded the party’s zoning arrangement ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing it as a game changer.

Olaleye, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Oyo Federal Constituency, made this known in an interview with Egalitarian Voice on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Recall that at its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the PDP zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South while also retaining the existing National Working Committee (NWC) zoning formula ahead of its November elective convention.
Reacting to the decision, Olaleye said the move would not only consolidate internal unity but also position the PDP for victory in the 2027 presidential race.

“Zoning the presidential ticket to the South is the surest path to victory for the PDP in 2027. It will further promote unity and progress within the party,” he said.
He further noted that the forthcoming National Convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan on November 15–16, would mark a significant turning point, with a new National Working Committee expected to emerge to steer the party toward the 2027 polls.
“The PDP is gradually finding its way back to stability through recent strategic decisions. The party is taking bold steps and exploring all options that will give it an edge in 2027,” Olaleye stressed.
