Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared his willingness to support any of his appointees seeking political office in the upcoming 2027 general elections, provided they demonstrate the competence and capacity to lead effectively.
The governor made this known on Monday at the 2025 Mid-Term Leadership Retreat organized by the Oyo State Government, held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, according to a report by Egalitarian Voice.

Governor Makinde encouraged political ambition among his cabinet members but emphasized that capacity, not loyalty alone, will determine his support.
“There is nothing stopping anyone from my cabinet from contesting in the next general election. If you have the capacity for whatever position you want to contest for, you will have my support. I will only not support anyone who lacks the capacity to govern,” Makinde stated.

Meanwhile, Egalitarian Voice has recently reported that one of Governor Makinde’s appointees, Dr. Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, who currently serves as the Director-General of the Oyo State Liaison Office for Abuja and Lagos, has declared his intention to contest for the Federal House of Representatives representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.

Dr. Oladimeji has reportedly been actively showcasing his leadership capacity through various empowerment initiatives, reaching thousands of constituents in Egbeda/Ona-Ara. His efforts include cash support, vocational training, and grassroots development programs, all aimed at improving the well-being of his people and reinforcing his readiness for elective office.
