2027: Makinde Drops Cryptic Hint, Dodges Talk of Presidential Run
The Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed that no one will dictate his political agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made this assertion on Monday while receiving members of the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), who paid him a solidarity visit at his office in Ibadan.
Governor Makinde who emphasized that his political future remains a personal decision, pledged to build an institution that will guarantee good governance beyond the tenure of his administration.
He who said he would continue to look after the students’ well-being as an administration, noted that his main priority remains development of the state in the next years, adding that he won’t be distracted by calls from various quarters that he should run for presidency come 2027 Election.
Highlighting the paradox of Nigeria’s immense natural wealth and widespread poverty, Governor Makinde asserted that natural resources alone cannot deliver prosperity, adding that people must be mobilized to invest in skills and knowledge, as well as prioritize intensive production.
Governor Makinde also urged the students to cooperate with the state government and encourage them to give any suggestions that could help improve existing initiatives.
