2027: With Consensus Candidate Confirmed, Egbeda/Ona-Ara PDP Leaders Rally Unity, Urge Aspirants to Back Omituntun 3.0 Agenda

The political landscape of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency has taken a decisive turn ahead of the 2027 general elections, as leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have formally confirmed Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji (OTOPE) as the constituency’s consensus candidate for the House of Representatives seat.

It is now officially confirmed that 23 prominent PDP leaders across Egbeda/Ona-Ara, led by Elder Wole Oyelese, unanimously endorsed OTOPE after extensive consultations and strategic deliberations. The decision report, duly signed by Elder Wole Oyelese as Chairman of the Consensus Committee and Hon. Mufutau Ogunremi as Secretary, has been submitted to the appropriate party quarters.

The development effectively positions OTOPE as the party’s preferred choice in alignment with the broader Omituntun 3.0 agenda, the governance and development blueprint championed by Governor Seyi Makinde.

In the spirit of sportsmanship and loyalty to the party, leaders have now called on all other aspirants within the constituency to embrace the consensus arrangement and unite behind the collective mission of ensuring the success of Omituntun 3.0.

Party stakeholders noted that the move is aimed at preventing internal rancour, strengthening grassroots cohesion, and consolidating the PDP’s dominance in the constituency ahead of the polls.

Speaking on the development, Elder Wole Oyelese disclosed that the decision was reached after wide-ranging consultations with critical stakeholders and leaders across the federal constituency.

He appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to place the party’s interest above personal ambition, stressing that unity remains the surest path to electoral victory.

“In 2023, OTOPE was not picked for the race, yet he remained firmly committed to the party and worked tirelessly for our collective success. We have seen his loyalty, patience, and character. Now, it is his turn, and we must all work together to secure victory for him in the coming general election,” Elder Oyelese stated.

He further reminded party faithful that political opportunities are sequential, noting that office can only be occupied by one person at a time.

“Every committed party member will surely have their moment. What is important now is for us to remain united, trust the process, and deliver victory for the PDP and Governor Makinde’s Omituntun 3.0 vision,” he added.

Political observers have described the development as a strategic consolidation of party strength, capable of deepening internal harmony and reinforcing the constituency’s alignment with the evolving vision of sustainable development under the Makinde administration.

With the consensus process now concluded, attention is expected to shift toward grassroots mobilization, reconciliation of interests, and full-scale political engagement across Egbeda/Ona-Ara in preparation for 2027.
